Hot Tub Circ Pumps

circulating-water in a hot tub out of a jet powered by a circ pumpCirculation pumps are found in select hot tub models.  Sure they are also in ponds, water features and other installations that need constant water circulation.   Some spas use a larger 2-speed pump on low speed to perform circulation duties while other spas has a dedicated 24 hour circ pump like the ones described in this section.

Circulation pumps are usually a single speed, low-flow hot tub pump that moves water through the hot tub filtration and heating system and across a filter cartridge for constant water movement, filtration and as needed, heating.

See our complete line of Circulation Pumps or the Popular Spa Circ Pumps below.

Popular 24 hour circulation pumps include LX brand circ pumps, Laing E5 and E10 pumps and others.  Plumbing connections on circ pumps can range from 3/4 inch slip or barb, 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch and sometimes even 2 inch plumbing.

Once of the best value all around circulation pump workhorses is the LX series available in either 115 volt or 230 volt configurations.

Circulation Pump Troubleshooting and Related Issues

Several other working components of a spa relate to the circulation system and circ pump including the filtration system, heating and plumbing.  Sometimes an error code such as DY, DRY, FLO or other may appear indicating a problem with the circulation that may point to either the circ pump, plumbing or control system as a likely culprit.  Not having enough flow through a spa heater causes errors which are warnings produced by the spa control system to avoid a heater running without water in it or adequate flow.  Troubleshooting by measuring voltage to the circulation pump, examining plumbing system, clean filter and other steps may help narrow down the issue between the pump, plumbing, valves, tubing or control system.  Related parts may include the heater, pressure or flow switch, or sensors.

A dirty filter can cause less than optimal flow rates and put a strain on the circulation pump over time, so it is a good practice to keep the filter clean of oils and debris, and change the filter annually or per manufacturer's recommendations.
