Description

QCA Spas solenoid valve for wave systems found in earlier QCA Spa models (pre-2013) Paradise Ultra, Cozumel Ultra, St Maarten XL and other spas that used the wave sequencer.
This is solenoid valve part is the 1" solenoid valve.  We also offer the larger 1 1/2" valves for newer model spas.

This complete solenoid is part of a 4 or 8 solenoid system that drives the wave function of the Wave Max and Ultra Lounge features. An internal plunger is the moving part that assists in turning water on and off depending on signals received by the solenoid valve from the solenoid control box.

Solenoid valves are electro-mechanically operated. When a current passes through the solenoid it is switched on and when no current is present it is switched off.  The solenoids are connected to the spa plumbing system and receive water flow from the jet pump through a manifold that divides up the water flow to different areas of the spa.

The task of this solenoid is to turn water flow off and on depending on what setting the sequencer is set at or what part of the dynamic sequencing program the spa is going through.

Long service life and compact design make this a high quality component.

Take care when replacing solenoid valve to assure that the internal plunger, should it fall out, is replaced the right way as they are directional.  There is also a manual switch on the solenoid that can be turned to auto for normal operation or manual to bypass the electronic signal controls.

Need the larger 1 1/2" solenoid valve for newer model QCA Spa? We've go those too.

The plunger inside is referred to as the actuator.

This solenoid is found in many newer model QCA Spas built before 2013 that use the 1" size solenoid valves.

Newer spas will use the 1 1/2" solenoid that we also offer.

SOLENOID Valve operation in the QCA Spa Wave System
The way a solenoid valve operates is as follows: When power is applied to the solenoid it lifts a plunger inside the solenoid opening a port allowing pressure to equalize across both sides of the internal diaphragm allowing water to flow through the valve. If debris is interfering with the plunger being able to seal off the port water will flow even though there is no power applied to the solenoid. If there is debris on the back side of the port restricting the port from opening all the way the flow will be reduced. Debris can be cleaned away by unscrewing the solenoid and cleaning the end of the plunger and the equalizing port. Be careful when removing the solenoid as the plunger is spring loaded.

Debris on the back side of the port can be caused by glue flakes lodged at the port. It can be removed by removing the screws that hold the valve halves together.
