Hot Tub Deck Ideas

The easiest way to own an outdoor hot tub is to place it on a concrete pad or level surface, run the electrical, fill with water and enjoy.  More ambitious homeowner projects may include designing a deck around the spa.

Hot tub deck integrations require knowledge about load weight, deck construction, landscaping and local permits to mention a few.

Things to remember when integrating a hot tub into a deck include access panels in case the spa should need service, sound under-footing structure to support not only the weight of the spa, but the water and occupants as well.  Hot tubs also usually do best when sitting completely flat on a surface rather than just on support beams.  Warping and cracking of the acrylic shell can occur if not standing completely flat/even.

When situating the spa, it is a good idea to raise it up rather than being flush with the deck. Not only is it easier to check water chemistry, but also to get into and out of the spa.  18" is a good starting point for the amount the spa should protrude above the deck.

A gazebo is easier to install than a deck.

A multi-level deck can provide different seating areas and views.
